Memories of Michael Jackson

We’re all affected by the sudden death of pop sensation Michael Jackson. A lot of MJ’s early success was due to the popularization of his videos on MTV. MEVIO’s very own President and Co-founder Adam Curry, was center stage during MTV’s early success and brought Michael’s videos to the world.

ABC’s World News Tonight’s Charles Gibson interviewed Adam Curry to find out how MTV impacted Michael Jackson’s rise to fame.

The memories, the music and the moves of a monumentally gifted performer are are all part of the Michael Jackson story. MJ’s childhood falsetto dripped with grownup soul — and as a kid he grew up on television. But it was music television that sent his adult career soaring. MTV didn’t feature many black artists until “Beat It” proved too big to ignore. And almost 10 years later when “Black or White” debuted, 500 million people around the globe were watching.

Adam Curry: “MTV and Michael Jackson were very important for each other. What the Thriller videos and all of his videos did was really set the standard for what music videos were.”

Great insight from a man who was in the middle of the action during the heyday of music videos on MTV.
