Zombieland Release

September 23, 2009 By: mfrochtzweig Category: Comedy, Entertainment

No, the title of the movie isn’t a commentary on the career of Woody Harrelson, he just happens to be starring in it — along with comedic great Bill Murray.

We not only have the trailer for Zombieland. We have a behind-the-scenes look with a great interview of Woody Harrelson:

Coming October 9, 2009, Zombieland is yet another post-apocalyptic thriller slash comedy that pits a group of survivors with virtually nothing in common against a non-stop onslaught of zombies, in sorta the way that the Bush administration viewed any Muslim nation.

Following on the foot heels of great zombie comedies like Shaun of the Dead, Braindead, and Army of Darkness, Zombieland is a horror movie meets road trip movie where Woody Harrelson (Tallahassee) and Jesse Eisenberg (Columbus) go coast to coast across the U.S. fighting the semi-living dead and finally end up in an amusement park — where it’s not exactly fun and games.

The zombies in this case aren’t the living dead, they’re just the diseased almost-dead that happen to appear very dead. Does that mean hope for a happy ending where the world is cured? That much you’ll have to wait for.

The movie also stars Abigail Breslin, Amber Heard, Emma Stone with a cameo by Bill Murray.

G.I. Joe Hits Theaters Today

August 07, 2009 By: mfrochtzweig Category: Entertainment

G.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra ain’t your father’s G.I. Joe — but is it any good?

Directed by Stephen Sommers (“The Mummy,” “The Mummy Returns”), the new version of G.I. Joe is really about GIJOE, that is the Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity, an international force of military operatives (read: the good guys) who band together to fight another international group Cobra (read: head of poisonous snake; read: bad guys). And these bad guys happen to be equipped with some very lethal hi-tech gear that, as you very well know from the trailer, has the capacity to destroy the Eifle Tower with one blow.

The elite G.I. Joe team equipped with the military equipment that would make Bond’s Q blush, is enlisted to fight the corrupt arms dealer Destro and Cobra to what? Save the world, of course. We’re talking George Bush-style good versus evil.

The movie stars Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Christopher Eccleston, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Byung Hun Lee, Sienna Miller, Rachel Nichols, Ray Park, Jonathan Pryce, Saïd Taghmaoui, Channing Tatum, Marlon Wayans, and Dennis Quaid.

We’re looking forward to checking it out.  Check out more movie trailers and movie reviews right here on MeVIO Men.

The Hurt Locker Release June 26 in LA and NY

June 25, 2009 By: mfrochtzweig Category: Entertainment

Winner of the Best Film in the Venice Film Festival, with Best Actor and Supporting Actor nominations in the Independent Spirit Awards, The Hurt Locker may be this summer’s sleeper.

Directed by Kathryn Bigelow, The Hurt Locker portrays an elite group of soldiers who have one of the most dangerous jobs in the world: disarming bombs in battle zones, and booby traps in war torn countries.  The movie focuses on new sergeant James, who takes over a highly trained bomb disposal team in the middle of a violent conflict. His two subordinates, Sanborn and Eldridge, are shocked by his reckless behavior — plunging them into a deadly game of urban combat.

The men struggle to control their wild new leader while the city explodes into chaos, and James’ true character reveals itself in a way that will change each man forever.

This is a movie you won’t soon forget — we’ve got the trailer right here on MEVIO Men.
