You might recognize Mike Judge as the brilliant comic mind behind “Beavis and Butthead”, “King of the Hill” and “Office Space”.

I mean, come on, if you don’t love Office Space, you have either never worked in an office or you have no soul. There is no doubt that Mike Judge has his finger on the pulse of modern satire.

However, let’s not talk about 2006’s “Idiocracy”. Judge’s last move, a farce about a guy who finds himself awakend 500 years in the future where we’ve all become fat morons is not what I’d call among his best works. 500 years. Seems like all the guy would have to do is wake up today to find the same thing…

… but I digress.

But we’re here today, not to rehash the past, but to talk about EXTRACT, Judge’s new movie, which I have to say from watching this trailer, looks quite promising. In fact, I’m gonna go out on a limb and say it looks damn funny.

Joel (Jason Bateman) is on the verge of selling his company, one where they make flavor extracts. Next stop, retirement and easy street. However, things go awry when a Rube-Goldberg-esque series of disasters puts his business and personal life in jeopardy.

Comedy. Gold.

You have to love Bateman’s excellent comedic timing as a straight man (finely honed during his time on “Arrested Development”) and Mila Kunis (”That 70s Show”) is a total pie so what’s not to like there.

And obviously Ben Affleck makes a cameo as a stoner. He might be kind of a tool, but given how good he was in the Kevin Smith movies, I’m gonna say having him in “Extract” may be more of a plus than a minus.

Directed by Kathryn Bigelow, The Hurt Locker portrays an elite group of soldiers who have one of the most dangerous jobs in the world: disarming bombs in battle zones, and booby traps in war torn countries.  The movie focuses on new sergeant James, who takes over a highly trained bomb disposal team in the middle of a violent conflict. His two subordinates, Sanborn and Eldridge, are shocked by his reckless behavior — plunging them into a deadly game of urban combat.

The men struggle to control their wild new leader while the city explodes into chaos, and James’ true character reveals itself in a way that will change each man forever.
