Zombieland Review: “The Biggest Waste of Time”

October 05, 2009 By: edaroza Category: Entertainment

The Woody Harrelson fronted flick Zombieland took the number one spot at the box office this last weekend, bringing in $25 million in three days. But according to Steve Samblis and Brad Daymond of Instant Movie Reviews, every person who paid their way in to film has been ripped off.

Brad and Steve have renamed Zombieland as ‘Shawn of the Sh-t,’ after the Zombie hor-com movie ‘Shawn of the Dead.’ Daymond, who especially hated the motion picture, comments “the writing was bad, it wasn’t really funny, there was at least a half hour of wasted film.” Then he adds the knock out punch with “a waste of time, don’t even rent the DVD.”

But the negative rating from Instant Movie Review isn’t being held unanimously with other reviewers. CinemaScore gave the film an “A” for males, an “A-” for females and an “A” for the under-35 age group. Rotten Tomatoes ranks the movie with a very positive 89% rating and a consensus summary of “Wickedly funny and featuring plenty of gore, Zombieland is proof that the zombie sub-genre is far from dead.”

Zombieland cost $24 million to produce. The producers are happy after the first week box office figures. Watch what Instant Movie Reviews has to say before you spend your hard-earned $10 at the theater. And be sure to get your dose of what manly men watch everyday on MeVIO Men.

Zombieland Release

No, the title of the movie isn’t a commentary on the career of Woody Harrelson, he just happens to be starring in it — along with comedic great Bill Murray.

We not only have the trailer for Zombieland. We have a behind-the-scenes look with a great interview of Woody Harrelson:

Coming October 9, 2009, Zombieland is yet another post-apocalyptic thriller slash comedy that pits a group of survivors with virtually nothing in common against a non-stop onslaught of zombies, in sorta the way that the Bush administration viewed any Muslim nation.

Following on the foot heels of great zombie comedies like Shaun of the Dead, Braindead, and Army of Darkness, Zombieland is a horror movie meets road trip movie where Woody Harrelson (Tallahassee) and Jesse Eisenberg (Columbus) go coast to coast across the U.S. fighting the semi-living dead and finally end up in an amusement park — where it’s not exactly fun and games.

The zombies in this case aren’t the living dead, they’re just the diseased almost-dead that happen to appear very dead. Does that mean hope for a happy ending where the world is cured? That much you’ll have to wait for.

The movie also stars Abigail Breslin, Amber Heard, Emma Stone with a cameo by Bill Murray.
